A professional work permit Mauritius application is made by the employing company for a foreign professional with a genuine job offer and qualifying employment contract. The monthly basic salary threshold is currently guided by the prevailing official criteria; DNB verifies the applicable requirements before submission.

NELS Application for a Professional Occupation Permit Mauritius

The employer submits the NELS application professional file through the National E-Licensing System. DNB prepares the application, reviews the employment contract, coordinates the employer declarations and ensures the required documents are uploaded correctly.

Approval in Principle (AIP): What Happens Next?

Once an application is approved, the applicant receives an Approval in Principle (AIP) email. For a new application, the AIP is valid for 90 days to complete the remaining formalities, including original-document verification and personal identification.

Young Professional Occupation Permit Mauritius (YPOP)

The Young Professional Occupation Permit Mauritius is for eligible international students who have completed at least an undergraduate degree at a recognised tertiary institution in Mauritius and secure qualifying employment. The employer submits the application, and the permit may be issued for up to three years, depending on the employment contract.

Current YPOP guidance refers to a minimum monthly basic salary of MUR 25,000. Applications should be submitted within the required period after publication of results, subject to the prevailing rules.
